Pages From My Sketchbook

Drawing is the beginning of my image making process. I have a few sketchbooks of different sizes that are for graphite, markers and pens, and a larger book for collaging and more complex spaces.

These drawings have faults, there's generally no erasing or altering yet for that same reason, they contain some of the more likeable moments in my work - they record unfiltered passages of time and mood in an immediate and sometimes pressing manner that feels genuine to observation.

So here are a few little studies, some are from family and friends, I'm always drawing my children, and some are after favorite artists like Beckmann and Rembrandt...I'm sure Giacometti, Lucian Freud, Kollwitz and Moore have all journeyed their way into my pages.
